The project has been approved under the Decision No. 2958/QĐ-UB dated June 24, 2004 and adjusted under the Decision No. 5683/QĐ-UBND dated November 8, 2005 of HCMC People’s Committee; Thanh My Loi residential area is on the site of 6.3ha on the inter-province road 25B in Thanh My Loi Ward, Dist. 2, comprising of six 5-storey blocks with 384 apartments, two 5-storey blocks integrated with 2-storey terrace town houses with 448 apartments, one 15-storey block with 208 apartments; the total number of apartments is 1,040. Besides, there is one public facility, which is a kindergarten (2 storeys) with 10 classrooms and rooms for activities; total area is 5,000m2. Total investment for the project is VND394 billion.  

Of the total land area for the residential area, 20,365m2 is for housing, 28,155m2 for greenery and grounds, 10,174m2 for road and parking spaces.

The construction of the apartment blocks has all been started, of which 3 blocks with 192 apartment flats have been completed in late 2006. The remaining blocks are now under construction; 416 apartment flats are scheduled to be completed in 2007 and the other 432 in 2008. Meanwhile, technical and social infrastructure facilities of the project are being constructed at the same time with the construction of the apartments, which will make accommodation soon be available to people who are subjected to resettlement.
