On 17/3/2008, the Investment and Construction Authority for the Thu Thiem New Urban Area is starting The International Design Competition for Thu Thiem New Urban Area: Central Plaza, Crescent Park, and Saigon River Pedestrian Bridge. This is an open, two-stage Competition for qualified professional architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, planning, and engineering firms or teams.

The first stage will be anonymous, open and unpaid. Six (6) shortlisted firms will be selected and paid to continue (anonymously) with the second stage. A winner will be selected from the six (6) shortlist submissions.





1. Shortlist Award and Prizes
Six (6) shortlisted firms will be paid in the amount of USD$20,000 each to continue with Stage 2 deliverables. At the conclusion of the competition, the following prizes will be awarded:

First Prize: USD$50,000 and the right to negotiate a contract for the development of detailed schematic designs for the Central Plaza, Crescent Park, and Pedestrian Bridge for the Thu Thiem Investment and Construction Authority

Second Prize: USD$30,000

Third Prize: USD$15,000

2. Schedule

Start Competition:  March 17, 2008
Last Day for Questions: April 14, 2008
Stage 1 Submission: May 19, 2008 (Deadline)
Announce Shortlist: May 26, 2008
Stage 2 Submission: July 28, 2008 (Deadline)
Announce Winner:  end of August, 2008
