The Construction Ministry’s Vinaconex Corporation will invest nearly VND1.6 trillion to build a bridge across the Saigon River linking the city’s central area and the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in District 2.
The memorandum of understanding for the Ba Son Bridge (Thu Thiem 2 Bridge) project was signed between the HCM City authorities and Vinaconex on May 15.
Under the MoU, Vinaconex will develop the 1.2-kilometer long project under the Build-Transfer form. It comprises construction of a main bridge of 0.5 kilometers in length, approach roads of 0.7 kilometers long and four intersections.
The project will run from the intersection of Ton Duc Thang and Le Thanh Ton streets to the outer road of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area’s center.
Once completed, the Thu Thiem 2 Bridge will contribute to fulfilling HCM City’s main transport network, ease traffic between the city’s downtown area and the Thu Thiem Peninsula, and between the city and localities in the southern economic focal zone. |
